Welfare. Sguardi della città, Lorenteggio, Gallaratese and Gorla "show off" with Reaction

The traveling exhibition with free entry will be held from March 25th to April 16th

Milan, March 14 2022 – A traveling photographic exhibition to tell the story of the neighborhoods protagonists of Reaction, the strategic programme, promoted by the Municipality of Milan in collaboration with the Third Sector and the involvement of MM SpA, developed in three public housing districts owned by the Municipality of Milan through three projects: Rimargina Gallaratese, Reactivate Lorenteggio and Rivivi Gorla.

The program has been active from November 2020, also as a strategic response to the pandemic, until April 2022, thanks to funding from the POR European Social Fund 2014-2020.

Reaction's objective is to contribute to the valorisation of the three neighborhoods through their inhabitants as main protagonists of the urban regeneration process by carrying out actions and connections between services and social actors, training skills, promoting the care of spaces, animating communities.

The "Sguardi della città" exhibition aims to tell the story of the three projects starting from their protagonists - the people and places - and through portraits and reportages of neighbourhoods, houses and family environments. From March 25th to April 16th the exhibition will be itinerant, moving through the three target neighborhoods of Reaction.

The use of photographic language merges and is put at the service of the work carried out in the field by the operators together with the citizens, inside the blocks of flats which become the places of regeneration and social innovation processes. Multiple points of view intertwine to create a new and collective gaze.

Alessandro Brasile was welcomed and guided by the people who live in the blocks and his photographs allow us to enter the homes, learn about their lives, discovering perspectives immersed in a poetics of light.

In Alessandra Fuccillo's shots, however, the gaze crosses that of the people who have experienced the Reaction programme, the so-called "beneficiaries", and the strength of the photographic portrait puts the viewer in communication with the emotional world of the subject.

Some photographs of towns and citizens who took part in a contest accompany the exhibition which will tour, from week to week, among new spaces in the protagonist neighbourhoods.
