Welfare. Cold plan, 13.000 scarves confiscated for the homeless

Bertolé: "An opportunity to transform the fruit of an illegal activity into something useful for the community"

Milan, 27 December 2021 – The Municipality of Milan will allocate 13 thousand scarves confiscated by the Milan Financial Police to the homeless and the Third Sector associations with which it collaborates as part of the Cold Plan.

These are items intended for counterfeiting, but without counterfeit trademarks or distinctive signs which were confiscated last year and for which the Judge for preliminary investigations of the Court of Milan authorized with an order the free transfer to entities benefits.

The Council, with a resolution, accepted the donation with the commitment to allocate them to the homeless guests of the city centers open from November to March for the Cold Plan and to the so-called diehards on the streets, people who do not accept hospitalization in the structures. Distribution to the latter will take place through the network of mobile units coordinated by the Municipality of Milan which carries out day and night monitoring of those living on the streets and through the nine day centers present in the city.

"On winter evenings - declares the councilor for Welfare and Health Lamberto Bertolé - the operators of the mobile units coordinated by the Municipality of Milan are equipped to provide the homeless with meals and warm clothing and in this way also support those who refuse hospitality in city centres. We therefore warmly welcome this donation which represents concrete help for those without a home and an opportunity to transform the fruit of an illegal activity into something good and useful for the community".

It is important to intervene promptly to assist people in difficulty. For this purpose, the reporting service of the Municipality of Milan is active and answers the number 24 hours a day (02) 884 47646 and collects citizen reports.
