Virtuous collaboration between social policies, education and private social services for the good of the little ones

Milan, September 15 2020 - A particular summer during which the Municipality tried to stay close to the families of girls and boys, especially the most fragile ones, adapting to a new reality.

The programs implemented by the Administration in the holiday homes of Ghiffa, Andora and Vacciago were successfully concluded: in the period between 5 August and 11 September there were 582 guests (for a total of 202 families) who they participated in daily trips to the holiday home in Vacciago. The “Fuori dal Comune” initiative included days spent with the family with moments of leisure, excursions and other recreational activities.

On the other hand, 70 guests (of which 32 were minors) took advantage of their stay in the houses in Ghiffa and Andora as part of the "Summer together" programme, which included two-week stays for children with disabilities and their families.

These projects are added in a complementary manner to the opportunities offered by the Milan Summer School, the program of events for summer 2020 which included educational, cultural, sporting and leisure activities promoted by the Municipality of Milan in its summer centers, by the educational realities , cultural and sporting activities that operate in the area, by private operators in agreement with the Administration, by oratories and by other public and private institutions that have accepted the Municipality's invitation by presenting a project for children and young people in the age range between 0 and 17 years. Through the Milan Summer School, 70 thousand places were offered on the city's summer campuses.

On the other hand, around a thousand children and young people between the ages of 6 and 14 participated in the "widespread summer centre" initiative developed within the courtyards of public housing as part of the #estatepopolare program over the course of 4 weeks between August and September. There were 24 courtyards involved in the initiative, both owned by the municipality and by Aler.
