Welfare. The Municipality provides support to Milanese people in difficulty excluded from citizenship income

Milan, October 16 2022 - Support families in difficulty by implementing measures complementary to national ones. With this objective, the Municipality of Milan, with a resolution approved by the Council, has allocated over 6,6 million euros for the provision of income support contributions, aimed at citizens who do not qualify for citizenship income .

To access these measures it is necessary to have been resident in Milan for at least one year, have an ISEE less than or equal to 6 thousand euros and not benefit from similar state subsidies. Furthermore, it is necessary to meet at least one of these requirements: have at least one dependent minor, have a person in the household with a disability or civil invalidity certification, have a person over 64 years of age in the household. The recognized contribution amounts to 1.500 euros for the year 2022.

“Once again - declares the councilor for Welfare and Health Lamberto Bertolè - the Municipality of Milan is in the front row to support citizens most in difficulty and integrate, with its own resources, the income support measures provided by the State. Despite the budget difficulties common to various local administrations, and which have certainly not spared Milan, we believe that it is an even more necessary help, considering the moment of serious crisis that many Milanese families are going through, and for this reason we have decided to dedicate a important portion of the resources at our disposal, in the belief that they can represent concrete help but also and above all an opportunity for redemption".

To access the contributions it will be necessary to participate in a notice that will be published on the Municipality's website in the coming weeks. Applications can be submitted exclusively online according to the methods specified in the notice. The WeMi spaces spread throughout the area will be available, by appointment, to provide support in completing the form.

The Municipality also implements two further measures for interventions to be considered extraordinary and urgent aimed at families in conditions of serious marginalization and poverty. In this case, the provision takes place following a report from the professional social services in charge of the citizens and who can assess the need for immediate help that goes beyond participation in the public notice. The provision of this aid can also take place through shopping vouchers for the purchase of food and basic necessities.
