Welfare. The 1 hot plan will start on 2022 July

Meals on wheels, support for home and personal hygiene, relational support. Various services can be activated through the contact center 020202. Bertolé: "Milan does not leave its elderly and fragile citizens alone"

Milan, June 30 2022 – Provide assistance to those who remain in the city and may find themselves in difficulty due to loneliness or high temperatures. With this objective, the Hot Plan returns again this summer, starting tomorrow, Friday 1 July, with a series of services dedicated to the elderly and people in difficulty.   Until August 31st, by calling the municipal contact center 020202, from Monday to Saturday, from 8am to 18pm, it will be possible to request the activation of some home care services, including the delivery of home meals and hygiene support personal and home. Operators can also provide relational telephone support and provide telephone monitoring in the event of heat waves.   In the month of August, when the city traditionally empties and many businesses close for the holidays, the Municipality will make available to elderly people who have no way of going on holiday and do not have the support of a family network, the opportunity to participate in recreational activities and social moments. To access the service it is necessary to call, starting from 11 July, the municipal contact center and book an interview with the operators who will evaluate the need, to offer everyone the experience best suited to their needs.   Among the resources available under the so-called Sociality Plan are out-of-town trips, nature walks, thematic itineraries, concerts, mid-August lunches, free admission to the swimming pool and cinemas. Also involved is the system of the Municipality's 29 socio-recreational and cultural centers which, again this summer, will organize solidarity lunches and dinners, snacks and watermelon parties.   “This year too - declares the councilor for Welfare and Health Lamberto Bertolé - Milan does not want to leave its older and more fragile citizens alone who do not have the possibility of going on holiday in the summer. For us, supporting them does not only mean ensuring that they have support in satisfying their primary needs, from managing the house to preparing meals, but also working to ensure that they do not have to suffer from loneliness. This translates into an intervention on two fronts, that of assistance and that of making social and leisure opportunities available. An effort that the Municipality renews every year in the awareness that there are many elderly and frail people who, especially in the summer months, do not have a family support network".
