Molise Avenue. All the Liberty buildings have been cleared and safety measures are underway

Milan, November 17 2021 - The clearing of all the Art Nouveau buildings in viale Molise, the former slaughterhouse and former Avicunicolo area in via Lombroso, began this morning, around 9 am. The activity continues with the immediate securing of access to the area to avoid future occupations.

State Police, Carabinieri and local Police intervened, coordinated by the Police Headquarters. The Municipality's social services were also present for any needs regarding the people to be removed: 130 adults who did not offer any resistance, of which 13 were stopped and taken to the police station for investigations.

This operation follows inspections and checks that took place in recent days and is the result of coordination between the councilors Pierfrancesco Maran (Housing), Giancarlo Tancredi (Urban Regeneration), Marco Granelli (Security), Lamberto Bertolè (Welfare) and Municipality 4.

"With today we have put an end to a situation of degradation and restored tranquility to the neighborhood - declares the Councilor for Security Marco Granelli -. The clearing, cleaning and making it safe allow us to begin the redevelopment process which will bring development, quality and work in the neighborhood. We monitor the area so that there are no new occupations."

At the same time, the Rapid Intervention Unit - Nuir and the Directorate of Public Works continue the work already started between 6 and 11 November with some specific safety interventions which will continue for a few days. From today, Amsa is responsible for the cleaning and clearing out of household goods and bedding which will last 45 days. Civil Protection will install some light towers to ensure lighting. The operator Redo, winner of the Reiventing cities competition, and Sogemi will guarantee surveillance. The presence of local police and law enforcement agencies is expected in the first days of the eviction and starting from today.
