Mobility. Via Imbonati, maintenance of the railway bridge starts on Monday 16th

The works carried out by RFI, which will last six months, will involve changes to the road system

Milan, March 15 2020 – Starting from tomorrow, Monday 16 March, the railway bridge in via Imbonati will be the subject of an important maintenance intervention by the Italian Railway Network (FS Italiane Group), with the aim of maintaining the efficiency of its load-bearing structures and allowing the restoration of the architectural parts. The works will last six months, with completion scheduled for 16 September.

For this reason, an alternating one-way system regulated by temporary traffic lights has been established near the bridge. The transit of private traffic and public transport, in both directions, will be guaranteed for the entire duration of the works.

These are the construction phases. From March 16th to June 16th the roadway and pedestrian path towards the entrance to the city will be closed; during this period, the alternating one-way system will therefore be established in the carriageway  in the direction of the suburbs. From 16 June until the end of the construction site, the one-way alternating route will be opened towards the city centre.

During the works, vehicles coming from via Valeggio will be required to turn right. Vehicles coming from via Baldinucci (except those heading to number 1) will not be able to enter via Imbonati and will be obliged to turn left into via Rosa Luxemburg. Pedestrian access to condominiums, commercial establishments and pedestrians to cross the bridge via alternative routes are guaranteed.

“In Milan all bridges and underpasses are subject to constant observation and where necessary maintenance - declares Marco Granelli councilor for Mobility and Public Works -.
