New green areas, paving and inclusive games at Bovisa. Maran: "Piece of the strategy to bring the squares to the center of the neighborhoods"

Milan, May 21 2020 - More trees, usable spaces for adults and children and greater safety. The redevelopment project for Piazza Schiavone, Bovisa district, promoted by the Verde and already presented to Municipality 9, is ready.

The intervention, the result of requests from the neighborhood committees and the Town Hall, involves the redesign and harmonization of the square, now divided into two parts, one lined with trees and the other paved. The demolition of the existing stairways and walls is therefore planned, which today create ravines that are difficult to monitor, especially at night. The flowerbeds will be expanded, bringing the green surface from the current 983 m1.525 to 24 mXNUMX, and the XNUMX existing trees will be safeguarded, with the root system of a paulownia which is raising a portion of the flooring being made safe.

In the part that is currently completely paved, 16 new tall trees of first and second size will be planted, which will guarantee the increase in shaded and usable areas by counteracting the heat island. A new flooring with high draining power is also on the way, with the creation of pedestrian paths that will improve usability within the green area. Finally, the area dedicated to children will be expanded with the inclusion of new inclusive games.

"The intervention is part of the neighborhood regeneration strategy starting from the squares - declares the councilor for Urban and Green Planning Pierfrancesco Maran -. Never before have we been rediscovering the importance of quality public spaces close to one's home. places to meet, spend time outdoors, let children play. Even Piazza Schiavone, currently penalized by its shape, with this redesign could become a new point of reference for the neighbourhood".

The restyling will be carried out during the summer for a total cost of around 200 thousand euros.
