Green. Piazza Piola, the redeveloped Teresa Pomodoro garden inaugurated

Greener and more livable with cherry trees, benches and the works of Kengiro Azuma thanks to the intervention carried out by Spazio Teatro NO'HMA Teresa Pomodoro

Milan, 18 April 2021 – The new Teresa Pomodoro garden in Piazza Piola was inaugurated today, as part of the initiatives linked to the Milan Design City. The intervention, promoted by Spazio Teatro NO'HMA Teresa Pomodoro as part of the project "Care and adopt public greenery", saw the redesign of the square with the installation of twenty-one cherry trees, eleven pink granite benches and a new drop-shaped pedestrian path to recall the lightness of water that stretches up to the theater. To further embellish the garden, a monument composed of five cylindrical steps of different heights houses the works of the sculptor Kengiro Azuma: "Colloquio", a sculpture made up of two bronze toads, and the "MU - 765 Goccia".

“Today Piazza Piola is greener, more beautiful and more livable thanks to the precious collaboration with Livia Pomodoro and Spazio Teatro NO'HMA - declares the councilor for Urban and Green Planning Pierfrancesco Maran -. This intervention is also part of the regeneration strategy of the city's squares, just last week we opened Piazza San Luigi, shortly we will open Piazza Schiavone and the new garden dedicated to children in Piazza Luigi di Savoia".

"A garden with a suggestive setting that creates a precious link between the environment, public space, art and culture – explains Livia Pomodoro -. A place created in memory of my sister Teresa, soul of the Spazio Teatro No'hma, actress, playwright, director who he loved Milan so much. It is this great love that today we want to return to the city, giving the Milanese a unique place that we hope will enter everyone's hearts for a future in harmony with nature and the environment".
