Cherry trees, benches and the works of Kengiro Azuma are coming. The intervention created by Spazio Teatro No'hma Teresa Pomodoro

Milan, February 24 2021 – Twenty-one cherry trees interspersed with eleven pink granite benches and a new drop-shaped pedestrian path to recall the lightness of water. This is how the Teresa Pomodoro garden in Piazza Piola will be in spring, thanks to the redevelopment project starting these days promoted by Spazio Teatro No'hma Teresa Pomodoro as part of "Take care of and adopt public green areas".

"We thank Livia Pomodoro and Spazio Teatro No'hma for an important intervention for the entire neighborhood which is part of the strategy for valorising the city's squares – declares the Green councilor Pierfrancesco Maran –. This is a particularly interesting project because it creates a link between environment, public space and culture in the memory of a great Milanese artist".

"Soon this garden will be returned to the city in a new guise and dimension – declares Livia Pomodoro – and it will be a free space just like the spirit that has always animated the activity of the No'hma theatre, of which my sister was an extraordinary inspiration. I am particularly pleased to make this gift to the city of Milan, a city that my sister and I loved so much and gave us so much."

The project will be completed with the installation of a monument composed of five cylindrical steps of different heights on which the works of the sculptor Kengiro Azuma will be placed: "Colloquio", a sculpture made up of two bronze toads, and the "MU – 765 Goccia" . An installation that recalls a theatrical scenography, capable of representing an open-air theater. Finally, from the pedestrian crossing in Via Pacini you can reach the monument through a new four-metre wide pavement in the direction of the theatre, symbolizing a dialogue between Teresa Pomodoro and the artist Azuma.
