Green. The Municipality asks MM for a feasibility study for the management of public assets

The proposal will then go to the City Council for consideration

Milan, January 3 2021 – Enhance green infrastructures in line with environmental transition policies, ensure greater efficiency in the management and maintenance of public green areas by optimizing costs, pursue more efficient and effective monitoring and control of the services provided. With these objectives, the Municipality of Milan, through a council resolution, has entrusted MM SpA with the task of verifying the feasibility conditions for managing the city's green heritage 'in house'.

By February MM will have to present a technical-economic proposal for the care of 18.385.454 m² of public green areas present in the municipal territory, including large parks, gardens, flowerbeds, traffic island beds, trees, 360 dog areas and 912 play areas . As happens today, the maintenance service must include not only the greenery in the strict sense but also the maintenance of sports equipment, play areas, dog areas, paths, paving, benches, irrigation systems and fences.

The offer must ensure an improvement in the management of cultivation operations as well as guarantee maintenance of maintenance standards, suitable provision of equipment and operational means to carry out the service, and planning of interventions on a multi-year and annual basis. Furthermore, emergency management, the use of an implemented information system containing all the information on the city's green heritage owned by the Administration and a professionally qualified operational structure for carrying out the service must be guaranteed. Finally, the management of green assets must be inspired by innovative and sustainability criteria, ensuring that activities are carried out while minimizing impacts on the environment.

In the event of a positive verification of the feasibility conditions of entrusting the management of the green heritage to MM SpA, the proposal will be submitted to the City Council for examination.
