Strong wind. Yellow alert in Milan starting from 9:00 am on Monday

Alert expected until Tuesday

Milan, 20 February 2022 – The Risk Monitoring Functional Center of the Lombardy Region has issued a yellow weather alert for strong winds expected tomorrow, Monday 21 February, starting from 9:00 am when the hydraulic node of Milan will also be affected by a general reinforcement of wind from the north- west.

From late morning the winds will tend to strengthen on the plain with average speeds of up to 50 km/h, while the expected gusts will reach approximately 60÷70 km/h in the western sectors. The most intense phase of the event will be late morning and early afternoon, with ventilation that may also have a foehn nature. After a phase of general attenuation in the late afternoon, a resumption of the phenomenon is expected from the early hours of the following Tuesday.

No closures are foreseen but citizens are asked to pay attention and preferably not stand under the trees (in the street, in parks, in cemeteries) and scaffolding on construction sites, terraces and tents, to secure objects and vases on balconies and all artifacts that can be moved by the wind.

The Municipal Operations Center (COC) of Civil Protection will be active from 9:00 tomorrow morning to monitor and coordinate any interventions.
