From the Ministry of the Interior 515 thousand euros for the accompaniment towards the autonomy of the nuclei present managed through a Protocol with the Prefecture, the Lombardy Region and ALER

Milan, May 27 2022 – Start the process of overcoming the spontaneous settlement in the Vaiano Valle area, within the South Park, to facilitate the restoration interventions planned for the area. This is the objective of the guidelines approved with a resolution by the municipal council and which will be included in the context of an operational protocol shared with the Prefecture, the Lombardy Region and ALER Milan.

In the area there are several building violations and untitled occupations which have been the subject of seizure orders by the Prosecutor's Office and, in 2021, of municipal ordinances against the property and those responsible for the abuses for the demolition and removal of the illegal works.

To help overcome the unauthorized settlement and start the restoration of the green area within the South Park, the Municipality of Milan has presented a project hypothesis relating to reception to the Ministry of the Interior, through the Prefecture of fragile families (which, for example, see the presence of minors) settled without title in the area, obtaining a loan of 515.000 euros aimed at starting a path of social and educational support at the end of which families can regain housing independence and social.

According to the latest survey, there are 23 families residing in the area and 37 are illegal and unused buildings. The Municipality will proceed to identify, through a public procedure, a person who can manage this accompaniment by defining individual paths for each group in need.
