Urban planning. Rubattino, the Scala laboratories and a 70 thousand square meter park arrive

The Municipality accepts the territory's request for the regeneration of the area. Councilor Maran: "After listening to the local area, the neighborhood is now at a turning point"

Milan, 1 August 2021 - Rethink the public vocation of the Great Urban Function Rubattino by accepting the requests received from the territory and making the area even greener with the expansion of the Lambretta Park. With this objective, the Administration approved the act of modification and integration of the Guidelines on the basis of which last June the Municipality of Milan stipulated a Framework Agreement with Rubattino 87 SrL, owner of part of the area for the implementation of the GFU “Rubattino”.

In recent months, the Municipality has in fact spoken with Municipality 3 and the neighborhood associations regarding the public functions to be established in the area: instead of the construction of a depot for electric buses initially planned by the Administration, a large area dedicated to greenery and public facilities of approximately 70 thousand square metres, characterized by the presence of structures of architectural merit and cultural value (the Crystal Palace), in continuity with the existing Lambretta Park, which will thus effectively double its extension. This modification involves a partial reorganization of the development of the area: the laboratories of the Teatro alla Scala in Milan, for the design of which an international competition will be announced, will be built partly, as already planned, north of via Caduti di Marcinelle, partly to the east of the INNSE settlement, where the ATM depot should have been built (the latter will be built in another area of the city currently being identified by the Administration).

“The process of listening to the territory with the precious contribution of Municipality 3 was fundamental to better define the urban functions that will give impetus to the regeneration of Rubattino – declares the councilor for Urban and Green Planning Pierfrancesco Maran -. Now finally there is a valorization plan, which, starting from the installation of the Scala Laboratories, will give new life to a part of the city that has been waiting for a turning point for a long time".

The production/logistics and tertiary/management functions for 51.763 square meters of SL pertaining to Rubattino 87, in compliance with the volumetric index of 0,35 m115/mXNUMX set by the PGT, are also transferred within the area currently identified on the eastern border of the Large Urban Function sector. The Operator will remain the owner of an area of approximately XNUMX thousand square meters and will have to take charge of the reclamation activities of all areas, including public ones.
