Urban planning. A new university student residence in via Ripamonti

The Administration has recognized the general public interest in the creation of new accommodation at discounted prices for students

Milan, August 1 2020 – Increase the supply of affordable accommodation for students who choose the excellence of Milanese universities, also guaranteeing the recovery of a prestigious building that has been disused for some time. With this objective, the Administration has recognized the public and general interest as a service for the city relating to the proposal received for the construction of an affiliated student residence in via Ripamonti 35/37 for approximately 700 students.

“Milan wants to continue to be an attractive city for young people – declares the urban planning councilor Pierfrancesco Maran –. There are over 200 thousand students away from home, so we need to expand the offer of affordable accommodation. The new Bocconi campus has recently opened on this side of the city, and at the Porta Romana airport the Olympic village will be transformed into apartments for university students."

The project presented by the company Prelios SGR SpA has already received the favorable opinion of the Landscape Commission and involves the construction of accommodation with controlled rent and a room with independent access of approximately 240 m2 for common use by users of the residence and citizens for the holding of demonstrations, events, exhibitions and conferences. The intervention also allows the recovery of the former agricultural consortium building, with an intervention that involves both renovation and new construction, with the consequent improvement of the urban decor in the neighborhood.
