Maran: "Redevelopment that will contribute to the regeneration of a quadrant of the city". Cultural, sporting and social activities allowed

Milan, May 21 2021 – Guarantee a new future, with functions of public interest, for the former Karma nightclub in Porto di Mare. It is the purpose of public announcement with which the Administration offers the property in via Fabio Massimo 90 as a concession for 36 years, which was used as a nightclub until 2017. Following the revocation of the public entertainment licenses, the complex, also known as "Rose Park", was decommissioned and became available to the Municipality of Milan following a long and complex legal case.

"This property is located in a quadrant of the city that is changing profoundly – ​​declares the councilor for Urban Planning Pierfrancesco Maran –. Not far away is the Porto di Mare Park, which is being reborn thanks to the collaboration with Italia Nostra, the neighborhood Corvetto, where in addition to the new Municipality headquarters we are redeveloping the public space, from Piazza Ferrara to Piazza Angilberto II, Santa Giulia and Porta Romana, the Olympic districts, the new campus of the Conservatory in Rogoredo. We are confident that the former Karma will also will be able to contribute to the regeneration of this part of Milan".

The bidder must present a project for the recovery, redevelopment and maintenance of the former disco, providing for the establishment of functions of public interest such as socio-cultural and creative spaces, theaters and auditoriums and entertainment venues, laboratories and spaces for innovation , business incubators, multipurpose centers and sports centers. Alongside these functions it will be possible to establish private activities as long as they are also qualifying and necessary to generate income in order to guarantee the economic sustainability of the recovery and maintenance of the property. The proposal cannot include the establishment of discos and dance halls. The surface right will be granted with the signing of a specific agreement with the Municipality of Milan. The deadline for submitting applications is set for 10 June 2021.
