Urban planning. City Life, green light for the variant for the completion of the plan

Redistribution of volumes to ensure greater harmony and continuity of the greenery. Maran: "The project has been completed which has enhanced the neighborhood and generated important resources for public interventions"

Milan, 24 April 2021 – Green light for the last lots of the City Life district. The Council has adopted the fourth Variant to the Integrated Intervention Program relating to the "Fiera Milano Historic District and adjacent areas" necessary to allow the urban planning completion of the areas.

In particular, the provision redistributes the volumes envisaged in the three Land Concentration units not yet built (in total approximately 51 thousand mXNUMX) on Viale Duilio, Viale Boezio, Viale Cassiodoro and Viale Berengario, without changes to the overall count. The new configuration, with the concentration of the building on the Viale Boezio-Cassiodoro side, will allow the realization of the winning project of the international competition for the completion of the area, which the Administration will approve with subsequent provisions, favoring better continuity of the green areas and public pedestrian spaces and reducing the heights of the volumes initially hypothesized.

"With this provision, we are giving the green light to the final layout of City Life, one of the projects that has changed the skyline of the city in recent years, bringing benefits to the entire neighborhood and creating a new place for socializing with the creation of the park - he declares the councilor for urban planning Pierfrancesco Maran –. The construction of the last lots will bring additional resources to be allocated to public interventions".

In recent months, important resources deriving from the plan have already been allocated to other fundamental public interventions, such as the redevelopment of Piazza VI February, the recovery of the Palazzo delle Scintille, the rehabilitation of two school buildings and the creation of new vegetable gardens and the feasibility project for the coverage of the Vigorelli velodrome. This last variant also establishes that the additional resources will be allocated to the renovation of the Monte Stella Park, to the renovation of public housing buildings in the Town Hall, to the renovation of the sports facilities in via Washington and via Iseo and to the extension of the project to the neighborhood Artline Park.

The duration for the conclusion of the plan and works is extended to 17 October 2026, as provided for by the Relaunch Law passed by the Government last July.
