Urban planning. The Mind-Milano Innovation District Integrated Intervention Plan has been approved

Milan, 1 February 2020 – Green light for the Mind project – Milan Innovation District. The Administration has approved the Integrated Intervention Plan relating to the area used for the 2015 Universal Exhibition presented by Arexpo Spa.
The Plan will lead to the establishment of three important public functions mainly north of the Decumanus: the new IRCCS Galeazzi hospital complex, the Human Technopole life sciences research center and the State University Campus. Everything will be developed within a large Scientific and Technological Theme Park of 650 thousand square metres, over half of the entire surface area of ​​the area.
  
The new green lung will unfold along the already existing Cardo and Decumanus with areas dedicated to sport, water and food and will be in continuity with the Cascina Merlata and Farini parks. A stop on the Circle Line will also be built, in addition to the one already planned in Stephenson as part of the Railway Yards Program Agreement.
 
“Mind represents a new excellence at an international level and an important piece for Milan 2030 – declares the councilor for Urban Planning Pierfrancesco Maran -. On the one hand it will bring a scientific research center and meeting between the public and business systems, on the other a large park available to citizens, students, workers and researchers. Finally, it will contribute to improving the efficiency of the city's public transport, thanks to the creation of the stop for the Circle Line".
 
In addition to the three large public functions, which will be located on 317.000 square meters of gross flooring area, the Plan allocates 90.000 square meters of gross floor area to the residential function, 15.000 square meters to the hospitality sector, 30.250 square meters to the productive sector, 305.000 square meters to the tertiary sector and office space, 35.000 square meters of commercial space with neighborhood businesses and medium-sized sales structures. The Implementing entity also undertakes to create a quota of no less than 30.000 square meters of social housing, including in the form of university residences.
