Maran-Guaineri: "New facility for a Milan preparing for the 2026 Olympics"

Milan, July 27 2019 – Work has started in recent days for the construction of a new public swimming pool in via Fatebenesorelle, in Moscova. The new structure will be equipped with two pools, changing rooms, gym, refreshment area, offices, infirmary, solarium, storage rooms, systems and technical rooms, as well as changing rooms with independent entrance for the adjacent Play More sports facility.

The first phase of intervention will last approximately 6 months and includes archaeological investigations and clearance of any weapons of war. Subsequently, excavations will begin for the construction of the swimming center, which will be ready by 2022.

The intervention, worth 5 million euros, is carried out by IREEF – Italy SICAF s.p.a., as a work to deduct the monetization relating to the redevelopment of the property in via Bagutta 2, the 30s building which until a few years ago it housed the Traversi garage for which redevelopment works for commercial use are underway.

As Milan prepares for the 2026 Olympics, this is one of the many pieces that will lead to a significant strengthening of the city's facilities, from the swimming pool that will be built in the Adriano district to the PalaItalia in Santa Giulia, to the redevelopment of the Palasharp and that of the Agorà, the Ice in via Ciclamini. All interventions possible thanks to a close synergy between public and private".

Among the works deducting the costs of the intervention, the redevelopment and reshaping of via Fatebenesorelle is also envisaged, with the creation of new sidewalks, slides, parking spaces for cars and motorbikes, horizontal and vertical signs and new furnishings. New sections of the water network and sewerage network will also be built.
