Milan, 1 March 2022 – The Municipality of Milan is currently busy organizing the most appropriate responses to deal with the humanitarian emergency resulting from the war in Ukraine. Milan wants to do its part to support the families of the approximately 8.000 Milanese citizens of Ukrainian origin and all the refugees who may arrive in the city fleeing the country.

The priority is to provide correct information and organize an initial emergency reception.
The Ukrainian Consulate has activated an office to collect the reports of all people from Ukraine arriving in Milan, in order also to connect the reception services with the Prefecture and the Municipality, and the reporting to the relevant authorities. If you know of people arriving or arriving from Ukraine, it is important to help them and report their presence on Italian territory.

You can do this by filling out the online form made available by the consulate in Ukrainian. The form can be consulted here link.

The communication must be accompanied by essential data (name, surname, date of birth, email and telephone contacts, requests for any accommodation solution or communication of hospitality in structures, associations or family members). With this initial information, the Consulate will liaise with the Migrant Emergency Office of the Prefecture and will also be able to collect any requests for support.

The Municipality has activated a booth with the Prefecture and the Consulate to collect the needs and coordinate reception in the available centres. The municipal administration is hosting the first families in the centers already active for the housing emergency and from this evening a dedicated center will be available in a pavilion of Casa Jannacci, the reception center in Viale Ortles 69.

The Municipality is also activating collaborations with the Third Sector to pool the city's availability. Refugees welcome Italia will immediately make its own available platform, to collect the offer of families who want to host refugees in their homes.

Caritas Ambrosiana is promoting the collection of accommodation availability in the network of parishes throughout the Diocese of Milan: to report availability you can write to the address Foreigners@caritasambrosiana.it.

Emergency is also collecting availability among its volunteers to make them available to the competent services.

The local school office is available to work to support the families of Ukrainian minors arriving in Milan in a school placement process: to report the presence of minors you can write to the address usp.mi@editore.it.
