Tourism. Having exceeded pre-covid levels, almost 700.000 arrivals in Milan in July

An increase of 7% compared to 2019, when 652.763 entries into the city were recorded

Milan, August 5 2022 – In July, tourism in Milan exceeds pre-Covid levels. Last month, almost 700 thousand arrivals in the city were recorded, +7% compared to 2019. At that time, according to data from the Milan Police Headquarters, there were 652.763 entries into the municipal area.

The number of tourists in the Lombardy capital has grown month by month over the course of this year, reaching 2019 figures in April and exceeding them in July 2022. In more detail, 2022 arrivals were recorded in April 587.717; in May 626.742; in June 628.759 and in July 696.338.

The results are also good for the wider area (metropolitan city and province of Monza and Brianza): in July 2022 there were 910.881 arrivals; in 2019 there were 957.241.

Major events, conferences and the ability to attract young people are the assets on which the city promotion strategy implemented by the Administration is based.

The communication campaigns dedicated to the neighborhoods and promoted with the YesMilano brand (project of Milano&partners, the promotion agency of the city of Milan, supported by the Municipality of Milan and the Chamber of Commerce of Milan Monza Brianza Lodi), the participation of the Municipality in the international trade fairs in the Meetings, incentives, conferences and exhibitions (MICE) sector and the events that the city has hosted in recent months have returned excellent feedback.

Summer 2022 in Milan still holds attractive events for the international public, starting with the FIBA ​​Eurobasket races (2-8 September) and the Formula 1 Pirelli Italian Grand Prix in Monza (9-11 September).
