Tourism. Memorandum of understanding between Milan, Genoa and Turin for the promotion of their respective territories

Milan, 30 April 2020 – The municipalities of Turin, Milan and Genoa have signed a memorandum of understanding to intensify their institutional relations through joint participation in projects linked to economic and tourism development, cultural activities and joint tourism promotion, with particular reference to the themes of culture, major events, sporting events, design, fashion, food and wine, craftsmanship and territorial marketing both on the national territory and on important international markets of mutual interest.

The objective of the three cities is to promote their respective tourist destinations at a national and international level, intensify synergies and operations and plan joint initiatives for the development and promotion of the tourist offer, with the aim of increasing national and international tourist flows, putting system actions aimed at integrating the attractiveness capabilities of the respective territories.

“This collaboration agreement – ​​declare the Tourism councilors of the three municipalities, Roberta Guaineri (Milan), Laura Gaggero (Genoa) and Alberto Sacco (Turin) – is an important step to address the serious crisis affecting the entire tourism sector in due to the measures instituted to combat the CoViD-19 pandemic. We will act together to promote local tourism, enhancing the work, professionalism and skills of all those in the supply chain, starting with guides and tour leaders. To convey the knowledge, specificity and excellence of our territories at a national and supranational level, we will organize educational tours with tourism sector operators, press trips with journalists, influencers and opinion leaders, meetings and exchanges of experiences between tourism operators, cooperation initiatives marketing and creation of joint promotional materials".

On the basis of this agreement, the three cities will launch synergistic actions aimed at: consolidating knowledge and integration between the three territories, which are geographically close; protect, enhance and mutually promote the historical, artistic, cultural and tourist heritage of the cities and territories of reference; protect, enhance and mutually promote the landscape-environmental, artisanal, commercial and food and wine heritage as well as tourism economic development; encourage the development of an integrated and complementary tourist offer; propose a complementary and integrated tourist offer at a national and international level, also through joint participation in trade fairs and marketing events in national and international markets of common interest; generate virtuous contaminations and sharing of good practices from a socio-economic and tourism development perspective.
