Milan, March 31 2021 – Sono state definite dall’Amministrazione comunale le linee guida per la denominazione delle stazioni delle linee metropolitane cittadine e delle fermate delle linee di superficie.

The main criterion refers to toponymy and to guarantee the recognisability of the stations, three levels of naming have been defined.

The first level gives each indication a single name, which places the station in its context and will be reported on the map; to this the acronym of the railway station in the interchange locations will eventually be added.

The second level allows integration into the signage strips present in the subway, on the mezzanines and on the platforms of each station: here it will be possible to indicate recognized cultural, sporting, social, religious institutions etc. characterizing and present in the area near the station and visible in georeferenced searches. The names of these institutions may also be reported in the apps relating to road or road services.

The stations can also be dedicated to figures from Milanese history (10 years after their death), with a plaque placed at the level of the entrance and exit turnstiles and this is the third level.
