Public transport. Prime Ministerial Decree allows the capacity on vehicles to be increased by up to 60%.

Milan, July 16 2020 - With the latest Decree of the President of the Council of Ministers (DPCM) issued on 14 July, the possibility of derogating from the distancing meter when passengers on public transport are positioned in line oriented in the same direction is confirmed.

This allows the capacity on the vehicles of the public transport network to be increased by up to 60%, compatibly with the type of vehicle. The rule, contained in the annexes to the decree, refers to people, sitting or standing, looking in the same direction. Naturally, the need to wear a mask remains in force.

"We are not letting our guard down - declares Marco Granelli, Councilor for Mobility - but we believe that the exemption from the one meter distance can also be interpreted as a reassuring signal on the use of our buses, metro and trams. Meanwhile ATM continues its sanitization work of all vehicles so that traveling is safe for passengers and we continue to appeal to them to scrupulously follow the rules".
