Digital transformation. The digital home is underway

Councilor Cocco: "A simple and immediate communication that will also lead to cost savings for postal expenses." Available to all citizens who have a PEC

Milan, June 7 2021 – The digital home for Milanese citizens is underway.
From today, residents who have a certified email address (PEC) will be able to elect their digital domicile within the citizen's file, the safe and protected personal area present in the institutional portal of the Municipality of Milan, so as to receive address indicated in the official communications of the municipal administration.

"In line with the indications of the Government and AgID, we are starting this new, important piece within the city's digital transformation plan – comments Roberta Cocco, councilor for Digital Transformation and Civic Services –. An innovation that will allow citizens to receive communications in a simple and immediate way and at the same time will guarantee the municipal administration a significant saving in costs incurred for postal expenses".

The digital domicile is an electronic address - for example a certified email inbox (PEC) or a qualified certified electronic delivery service - through which the citizen can receive notifications of administrative and tax documents.

Currently, the Digital Administration Code (CAD) provides for the obligation of a digital domicile for professionals registered in business registers, lists and registers and for the Public Administration, while leaving citizens the right to choose or not their digital domicile.

The domicile will be registered in a special database that can be queried by all the Administration departments to guarantee unambiguous and correct communication.
