Environmental transition. Stoves, fireplaces and wood-burning ovens, the census by March 1st

Milan, February 22 2021 - The Administration has decided to carry out a census to locate stoves, fireplaces or wood-burning ovens present in private properties or businesses, for this reason it is necessary to register your appliance by next March 1st in a database accessible via the internet from the website of the Common.

The Air Quality Regulation approved by the City Council last November 19 introduces two mandatory censuses: the first is aimed at owners of food production and catering businesses, who use biomass such as firewood, pellets, etc. who must provide information relating to the type of device used; the second is aimed at property owners, who will have to register their localized domestic heating appliances, for example stoves if powered by diesel, firewood, charcoal, combustible biomass or biodiesel.

In the case of new catering activities that use biomass, however, the system must be registered within 30 days from the date of submission of the SCIA.

Among the main sources of emissions of dust harmful to the health of citizens, such as PM10 or nitrogen dioxide, there is combustion due to pizzerias with wood-fired ovens, combustion from wood-fired heating systems and similar, combustion from the use of stoves, fireplaces and kitchens in residential settings which are added to other factors such as road transport of motor vehicles, combustion from residential and commercial heating systems powered by methane or diesel, production processes, energy production, combustion in industries, the burning of tobacco, fireworks etc.

In this regard, Article 3 of the Regulation provides for the ban on new installations of diesel and biomass systems (less than 3MW), as well as the ban on the use of diesel and biomass, the latter only for systems installed more than 10 years ago. years, starting from 1 October 2022.
