Toponymy. The Lambretta park and the Monsignor Vergani promenade have been inaugurated

Milan, September 28 2019 – The Lambretta Park and the Monsignor Vergani Walk were inaugurated. The two dedications took place today, as part of Milan Green Week, in the presence of councilors Filippo Del Corno (Culture) and Pierfrancesco Maran (Green).

The new Lambretta Park is located between via Caduti di Marcinelle and via Caduti in Missione di Pace, the green area currently known by the names Parco dell'Acqua/Maserati/Rubattino. The naming of the area, proposed by Municipality 3, is highly significant for the neighborhood and for the entire city, since the Lambretta scooter was designed and produced from 1949 to 1972 by the former Innocenti factories located next to the green area , Known all over the world.

From Municipality 3 to Municipality 2. On the proposal of the Precotto Committee, the new pedestrian area located between Viale Monza and Via Don Bigiogera was named after Monsignor Egidio Vergani. After an initial assignment at the Parish of S. Maria del Buon Consiglio alla Bovisa,  where he helped to reconstitute the activity of normal oratory life after the war years, in 1964 Don Vergani was appointed parish priest of San Michele Arcangelo in Precotto by Cardinal Colombo . Here he paid particular attention to the weakest and most needy and contributed strongly to the creation of the new oratory, the arrangement and lighting of the sports field. He was appointed Honorary Chaplain of Our Lady of Lourdes in 1984, while in 1997 he received the nomination of Honorary Prelate from Pope John Paul II.
