Tajani: "A space that demonstrates the Administration's commitment to supporting parenting and building a child-friendly city"

Milan, July 24 2019 – Milan is increasingly attentive to the needs of children and parenting, reconciling life and work times. This morning, the first Happy popping point inside Palazzo Marino (Trinity Hall). A specially equipped space, in the "house of the Milanese", to welcome parents who need to breastfeed or change their children. The Municipality headquarters thus becomes part of the widespread network of Happy popping spaces present in the city.

“An opening that I hope will be an example and an invitation for many entities present in the area such as investee companies, shops, restaurants and public establishments in Milan, to set up Happy popping in their spaces equipped with changing tables, armchairs, containers for used nappies, clothes hangers. Because being able to count on accessible and friendly places in the city can make the difference in the small daily choices of parents, so that no mother or father has to rely on luck when they need to quickly find a welcoming place." Thus comments councilor Tajani, who continues: "An initiative that aims to encourage parenting, particularly in the first months of children's lives, recognizing parents and children's right to live in an increasingly welcoming, innovative and inclusive city , a city that sees the gaze of children and their parents as a primary driver of growth and development."

Palazzo Marino also joins Onalim's #IoCambio campaign to promote the presence of changing tables also in men's bathrooms or in common areas, with the aim of eradicating the stereotype according to which nappy changing only concerns mothers and to reiterate Milan's commitment to promotion of gender equality even within families. A choice strongly supported by the city council which approved a motion presented by councilor Angelica Vasile and councilor Alessandro Giungi, which has now seen its realization thanks to the collaboration of Energie sociali Jesurum Lab, a communication agency involved in the design and implementation of projects of private public, which also offered the restyling of the Happy popping space in Palazzo Reale.
