Albenga. The Municipality of Milan remembers the 72nd anniversary of the tragedy
Milan, July 16 2019 - The ceremony for the 72nd anniversary of the Albenga tragedy was held today in front of the monument dedicated to the small Milanese victims of Albenga in the Major Cemetery.
On the evening of 16 July 1947, a boat carrying 84 children, all boys between 4 and 8 years old, mostly Milanese war orphans, guests in a nearby summer camp, sank in the waters off the coast of Albenga, in the province of Savona.
In the dramatic accident, 44 children and 4 women who accompanied them on the sea trip died.
