Statistics. The Istat permanent census will start on 1 October
Milan, September 30 2019 – The second annual permanent population and housing census carried out by Istat in collaboration with the Municipality of Milan will start on Tuesday 1 October.
Since 2018, in fact, the National Institute of Statistics has recorded, on an annual basis and no longer every ten years, the main characteristics of the population and its social and economic conditions at a national, regional and local level.
The sample of families will be involved in the Census through two types of surveys: Area, which will involve around 2.600 families, and List, which will involve around 8.500.
In the first case, the families will receive a visit to their home from a surveyor from the Municipality of Milan, who will have to show an identification card with name and photograph and deliver a letter introducing the investigation. The surveyor will carry out the interview with the members of the family unit by directly entering the information on a tablet.
For the second type of survey, however, Istat extracted a sample of families from the Municipality's registry lists who will receive a letter with the credentials to proceed with completing the questionnaire online.
The permanent population census is one of the surveys with an obligation to respond and all the information collected is guaranteed by law in terms of protection and confidentiality.
