Councilor Guaineri: "Concrete support for sports operators in our city in the face of difficulties caused by the pandemic crisis"

Milan, 24 April 2021 – Sports associations and clubs based in Milan have until 4 June to submit the request to access the annual contributions from the fund set up by Inter and Milan, provided for in the agreement for the concession of use and management of the Meazza stadium to support sporting activity in the city.
The resources made available amount to 320 thousand euros and refer to the 2019/2020 sports season.

“In addition to rewarding, as always, the sporting excellence of our city – declares the councilor for Sport Roberta Guaineri –, this year we have decided to diversify and expand the destination of these contributions, taking into account the many serious difficulties faced by the associations and sports clubs due to the blocking of their activities due to the Covid-19 health emergency".

In particular, 48 thousand euros are aimed at supporting sports associations which, due to causes of force majeure (for example the renovation of the facilities used in the city) were forced, in the 2019/2020 sports season or 2020 calendar year and until the possible cancellation of competitive activities due to the Covid-19 health emergency, to compete in championships of excellence in their discipline using sports facilities outside the city.
Another 128 thousand euros are intended for those public and private non-profit entities that have carried out specific sports projects in the Milan area, of public interest, in which sport is the means to achieve objectives of educational, social, training and social integration, with particular regard to projects for returning to sporting activity during the Covid-19 health emergency.
Finally, 148 thousand euros will be paid to support those sports associations and clubs, reported to the Administration by the national Federations, which, through the results achieved, have contributed to the valorisation, promotion and diffusion of sports practice, becoming a true excellence for our city.
