Born in 2016, connected to the Memorial established in 2004, the Interforce Trophy has the dual objective of recognizing the commitment of those who serve the community and the citizen every day, and to create an opportunity for leisure and aggregation through healthy practice of sport that supports solidarity. Over the years, the Trophy has promoted awareness on various topics, such as cardio-protection and the diffusion of defibrillators, the prevention of tumors, organ donation, the removal of architectural barriers or the fight against gender violence.

Presenting the initiative were, among others, the President of the City Council Elena Buscemi, the Sports Councilor Martina Riva and the organizer and brother of Giovanni Marra, Angelo, president of the Aquas association.

"A sporting event and the diffusion of good practices and healthy values which is now part of the tradition of this city - said President Buscemi -, and which involves civil society and law enforcement in raising awareness on social and health issues, this year with particular attention to gender equality".

"April 6 is the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace, a day which takes on an even more significant value due to the serious situation we are experiencing; but April 6 is also the 18tha anniversary of the passing of my brother Giovanni – says Angelo Marra – and still being here to remember him is a recognition of his great commitment and the continuity that we were able to give him with teamwork that involved civil, military and sporting institutions but also associations of the territory and civil society".

The tournament will start after Easter, semi-finals scheduled for 12 and 13 May while the final will be played on 19 May at the Arena Civica in Milan.

The trophy will be linked to other sporting activities that will take place throughout the year in collaboration with US ACLI Milan and the project's partner associations.
