The football tournament involving civil and military forces to promote solidarity and inclusion kicks off on April 19th

Milan, 4 April 2023 – The 19 edition of the Giovanni Marra Memorial Interforce Trophy will start on Wednesday 2023 April, the football tournament organized in memory of the president of the Milan City Council who passed away in 2004.

As usual, the event will see representatives of the Air Force, Carabinieri, Italian Army, Financial Police, State Police, Penitentiary Police, Milan Local Police and Fire Brigade take to the field.

The initiative was presented this morning at Palazzo Marino by some representatives of the city council and by Angelo Marra, brother of Giovanni Marra and president of the Aquas association. Also speaking were the President of CONI Lombardy Marco Riva, the President of CIP Lombardy Pierangelo Santelli, the vice-president of CONI Claudia Giordani and the President of GSD Blind people Milan Francesco Cusati.

This year, the Giovanni Marra Memorial Joint Forces Trophy will begin with the group stage on Wednesday 19 April and will end on Wednesday 14 June with a ceremony organized in the Barozzi Hall of the Institute for the Blind, during an evening in which the teams will be awarded prizes. participants in the tournament.

Inclusion, integration, respect for the rules and opponents are the ingredients of the team game at the basis of the Interforce Trophy, born in 2016 and connected to the Memorial established in 2004 which involves the representatives of the Municipality of Milan, the Lombardy Region and the Friends of G. Marra and which will take place at the San Siro Stadium on Wednesday 7 June.

The event has a dual objective: on the one hand to recognize the commitment of those who serve the community and the citizen every day and on the other to create an opportunity for leisure and aggregation through sport and solidarity.

For this reason, over the years, the Trophy has become active in promoting and raising awareness on various topics of social interest, in particular on cardio-protection.

Among the many activities promoted, this year there is also the first edition of the "Cuore SIAP" Tournament, the initiative organized to remember the traffic police officers who lost their lives in service on the roads and motorways of Lombardy.
