Milan, May 27 2023 - The platform through which associations and sports clubs can request the temporary concession of school gyms made available by the Metropolitan City for activities outside of teaching hours in the 2023/24 school year is online.

Therefore, the collaboration between the Municipality and the Metropolitan City of Milan continues to guarantee the use of school sports spaces by the city's sports organisations. In recent days, the Council has defined the guidelines that will lead to the signing of the agreement for the 2023/24 and 2024/25 school years, with the possibility of extension for the school year. 2025/26.

The Metropolitan City will grant use of the school sports facilities to the Municipality for use by city sports associations and clubs and will take care of the ordinary and extraordinary maintenance of the facilities. For its part, the Municipality will take care of entrusting the structures made available to the interested parties, directly or through the National Sports Federations, in compliance with safety standards and any requirements, and will undertake to reimburse the Metropolitan City of the charges for utilities (heating, electricity, water) of the spaces for the periods and hours of non-educational use (which rose in recent months to 39 euros/hour + VAT), for a total expense of 1,6 million euros per year, already foreseen in the 2023-25 ​​budget allocations.

On the basis of the new Istat indices and to cope with energy increases, the municipal tariffs for sports activities taking place in the school gyms of the Metropolitan City during non-educational hours will be updated. The hourly rate is set at 23 euros.

"Every year, there are around a hundred sports associations that use school gyms to carry out their activities, for a total of around 31 thousand hours of use and sport practiced - declared the Councilor for Sport Martina Riva -. With these lines of address the Administration confirms its commitment, also from an economic point of view, to invest in young people, in their physical and psychophysical health, because sports practice is and must be an integral part of the personal and social growth of every individual".
