Milan, March 22 2023 – The new swimming pool of the Cambini Fossati sports center, in Municipality 2, was inaugurated this afternoon. The Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala, the councilor for Sport Martina Riva and the President of Milanosport Rosanna Volpe spoke at the ribbon cutting.

"The attention of the Administration towards grassroots sport remains high – explained the Mayor of Milan Giuseppe Sala –. Cambini Fossati has been the subject of an important redevelopment work in recent years and today, with the inauguration of the new structure that houses the swimming pool, the center's renovation project can be considered truly complete. We are happy to give back to the city a multifunctional facility, accessible to everyone and accessible all year round."

The structure, which flanks and completes the existing sports centre, features a 25-metre pool with six lanes (the depth of which varies from 1,20 m to 1,75 m), an educational pool for family and baby swimming courses and for aquatic fitness and a gym for boxing, personal defense and fitness courses. At the entrance there is a cold table bar. And photovoltaic panels are positioned above the pool area. In summer the large garden, accessible from the pool area, becomes a solarium with sunbeds and umbrellas.

"With the opening of the swimming pool, the sports offer proposed by the Cambini Fossati Sports Center becomes more complex and interesting – comments councilor Martina Riva –: swimming, tennis, padel, fitness, boxing can be practiced throughout the year We are pleased to be able to respond with an adequate facility to the demand for sport coming from the neighborhood and the city."

The new complex enriches the range of disciplines and activities that can be practiced in the centre, renovated in 2018. Cambini Fossati has two 800 m gyms2 each, equipped with stands with 252 and 127 seats - the Gymnastics Gym and the Giordani Gym -, two tennis courts - one in red clay and one in synthetic - and four padel courts inaugurated a year ago with 11.284 total matches played and over 500 enrolled in courses for the 2022/23 season.

The centre, both inside and outside, has no architectural barriers. One month after opening to the public, there are already 1.600 users of the pool and over 700 people enrolled in the courses offered.

Rosanna Volpe, President of Milanosport commented: "Milanosport constantly works to provide members with innovative and advanced courses, with iconic sports facilities and symbol of the City of Milan. We are very satisfied with the results of the 2022/2023 season, characterized by the presence of over 45.000 registered and over one million accesses to the various sports centers. The inauguration of the new swimming pool in the Cambini Fossati Center represents a further element of sporting attraction for swimming lovers of tennis and padel. The new equipped gym and the large outdoor garden complete this sports center which, therefore, is committed to ensuring maximum usability by athletes engaged in daily training and competitions, with particular attention to members with disabilities" .

Thanks to the opening of the swimming pool, the Cambini Fossati Sports Center presents itself as one of the most functional and modern facilities of the Milanosport circuit, a point of reference for sport and leisure, ready to host the summer 2023 campuses.

"This multi-sports center fits into the context of Via Padova, in which the municipal administration is investing heavily, and represents an excellence of grassroots sport. The sporting offer fits in to all intents and purposes as a piece of the urban and social regeneration that it is affecting the whole neighborhood", commented the president of Municipality 2 Simone Locatelli, who took part in the inauguration ceremony.
