Sport. Motor education, agreement with the Region and CONI for "At school of sport"

Milan, October 20 2019 – The Administration has approved the guidelines for the stipulation of an agreement with the Regional School Office and the CONI Regional Committee aimed at carrying out the initiative “At school of Sport – Lombardy in play VI Edition – School year 2019/ 2020" aimed at primary schools in Milan.
 
Since 1997, the Municipality has been implementing this project to support physical education in primary schools, through the assignment of a physical education teacher to the participating classes as tutor to the teacher. From year to year the initiative has enjoyed an ever-increasing following from primary schools to such an extent that from a membership in 1997 of 24 schools with around a hundred classes and 2000 children, participation in recent years has stood at around 140 schools with over 1.600 classes for 35.000 students involved.
 
“Spreading the culture of the importance of healthy physical activity and the values ​​of sport among primary school children – declares the Sports Councilor Roberta Guaineri – is essential for raising citizens who are aware and attentive to the well-being of themselves and of the whole community. community. The activities of this project, carried out in concert with the Lombardy Region and CONI, are now essential in the programs of schools in our area".
 
The project is intended for all primary school classes and is characterized by the support of the primary school teacher by an expert with a degree in motor sciences or an ISEF diploma for one hour a week, for 20 hours per year in each class; by the figure of a "supervisor tutor" for support and support for psycho-physical well-being and sports activities; by learning objectives aimed at encouraging the acquisition by students of motor skills that contribute to the global development of their personality considered not only from a physical point of view, but also from a cognitive, emotional and social point of view; by particular attention to the involvement of pupils with disabilities and pupils who have difficulties integrating into the class group.
 
The Municipality of Milan intends to integrate the regional project with a maximum sum of 250 thousand euros, guaranteeing the participating Milan primary schools the resources necessary to guarantee a maximum co-financing quota of 38% (referring to expenses for experts), in addition to the 5% quota relating to the monitoring and supervision of the program. Furthermore, the Municipality will bear the expense for primary school classes that are not positioned in a useful position in the ranking drawn up by the Lombardy Region.
The overall expenditure is divided as follows: 40 thousand euros financed with current resources from the 2019 budget and 210 thousand euros financed with current resources from the 2020 budget.
