From the Mutual Aid Fund 1,47 million euros to support the city network

Milan, July 11 2020 – The municipal council has approved the implementation guidelines for the provision of extraordinary contributions to sports associations and clubs to support ongoing sporting activity and the activities of concessionaires of municipally owned sports facilities.

The extraordinary contributions intended for the Milanese sports network amount to 1,47 million euros and come from the Mutual Aid Fund established last April 9th ​​by the Mayor with the aim of bringing immediate help to those who have suffered the most from the effects of the spread of the COVID-19. 

“This is a concrete act by the Administration to support the concessionaires and all those sports entities that have been severely affected by the health emergency and the consequent economic and financial crisis – declares Roberta Guaineri, Councilor for Sport -. Immediate help to the associations and sports clubs that play a fundamental role in our community, representing a point of aggregation and inclusion in the area and encouraging a growth path for children and young people also in support of the family". 

In particular, 780 thousand euros will be paid for the increased costs incurred for the management of the facilities following the health emergency by the Municipality's sports concessionaires; 520 thousand euros for the ongoing activity of non-profit sports associations and clubs; 170 thousand euros to cover the concession fees for sports facilities owned by the Municipality for the four-month period March-June.

To concessionaires, the contribution - which cannot exceed the sum of 7 thousand euros - will be paid proportionally in relation to the surface area and multifunctionality of the facility, popular quotas for participation in courses, characteristics of the shareholder structure, social inclusion, participation in the creation of Summer School and implementation of specific projects that provide for the inclusion of people with disabilities in basic or competitive sporting activities.

The contribution will be assigned to sports associations and clubs in the amount of 50% of the expenses, documented and receipted, necessary for carrying out continuous sporting activity up to a maximum contribution of 5 thousand euros.

For the purposes of disbursing contributions, a specific public notice will be published on the website of the Municipality of Milan in time to allow the submission of requests by the deadline of 30 November 2020.
