Milan, June 11 2019 - From 14 to 22 September Milan Bike city returns. The second edition of the widespread bike festival, presented this morning at Palazzo Marino, is ready to host the events that associations, companies, informal groups and individuals will organise: events for cyclists but also many moments designed for those who don't yet ride a bike or go too little.

During the final weekend of Milano Bike city the Dj100 granfondo will take place: this year too Linus and Radio Deejay are in the front row for the promotion of cycling, with the Dj100 which in recent years has deservedly earned the role of Milan's granfondo , characterized by an extremely challenging path which everyone can try their hand at. Registrations for the DJ100, which is scheduled for Sunday 22nd September, with the opening of the village at City Life already on Saturday 21st, are open on the website https://deejay100.it/.

“After the success of the first edition – declare the Mobility councilor Marco Granelli and the Sports Councilor Roberta Guaineri – we are certain that this year too the event will be a precious opportunity to discover the cycling potential of our area, promote an increasingly sustainable lifestyle and discuss the good rules of coexistence on the road. Milan, with over two hundred kilometers of cycle paths on the road and in green areas and five hundred thousand square meters of Zone 30, is a city that lends itself very well to the use of bicycles, which is constantly growing, as confirmed by the four million per year of BikeMi use”.

For Milano Bike city the challenge of this second edition, after the success of 2018, is to broaden the audience, go and talk and involve all those who are currently far from the bike. Precisely for this reason, starting today the call for participation is active, on the Milano Bike city website you can immediately nominate your own events: anyone can participate, from the neighborhood association that wants to propose a ride to the shop that has thought of an aperitif with discounts for those arriving by bike and also for the individual who has a nice idea for bikes in Milan and wants to present it. Everyone is welcome in Milano Bike city.

This year too, Milan Bike City takes place to coincide with the European mobility week (16-22 September 2019) which for this edition has as its theme support for pedestrians and cyclists, having identified walking and cycling as the best ways to move around the city.

The 2018 edition of Milano Bike city saw over 60 different entities propose and organize more than 140 events: in total there were twenty thousand participants, while more than 280 thousand people were reached on digital channels. At the end of the 2018 edition, a questionnaire was given to all the organizers: 95% responded saying they were satisfied with the results.

The Municipality of Milan has renewed its commitment to the festival also with the inclusion in the official Yes Milano schedule, thus guaranteeing the bicycle special visibility on all the Municipality's communication channels.

The 2019 edition of Milano Bike city will also promote the cycling prize which will support a particularly worthy project for the impact it can have on improving urban mobility: last year the jury awarded the Massa Marmocchi Milano association and his morning rides to support home-school mobility.

"We are particularly proud of MakeMImove – declares Giovanni Morozzo, one of the organizers of the event – the cycling award that characterizes Milan Bike city: it demonstrates how this formula for promoting cycling that brings together the public and private sectors can then guarantee resources for particularly worthy projects. The award is one of the founding elements of the festival and is part of the format that this year we have successfully proposed to other cities: Bologna Bike city is taking place in these days, Padova Bike city is scheduled for the next few weeks. is to grow the Bike city network to bring a new way of supporting cycling mobility around Italy, based on knowledge and sharing experiences".

Milano Bike city 2019 could have a venue that acts as a point of reference and information for the entire duration of the event: "The dream is called Velodromo Vigorelli – confides Marco Mazzei, one of the organizers of the event – because there is no other place in the city which has the strength to represent the bicycle, all bicycles, and cyclists, all those who ride bicycles".
