Smog. From Friday 21 February the first level measures will be active

Milan, February 20 2020 - Following the findings carried out by the Regional Environment Agency (ARPA), the exceeding of the first threshold of PM10 values ​​was certified today.

Therefore, starting from tomorrow, Friday 21 February, the first level temporary and emergency measures will be active in Milan for the improvement of air quality as established by the Air Plan of the Po Valley Basin and the Lombardy Region. 

Measurements are triggered only when PM10 concentration levels exceed the value of 50 μg/m3 for four consecutive days. The temporary measures are activated by the day following the control day, i.e. Tuesday and Friday, and remain in force until the following control day. The emergency lockdown is in force every day, including Saturdays and Sundays and midweek holidays, from 8am to 30pm.  

Since the Area B structural provision is active in Milan, the temporary limitations on the circulation of polluting vehicles envisaged by the Air Plan concern exclusively the extension to Saturdays and Sundays and midweek holidays of the blocking of vehicles already subject to limitations regarding the transport of people ; Saturday, Sunday and holidays from 8am to 30pm for registered goods transport vehicles.
