Safety. State police and local police arrest a 31-year-old after two street assaults

The charge is attempted murder, the victims being two elderly people

Milan, June 30 2019 - The 31-year-old Egyptian arrested by the State Police and local police who yesterday afternoon attacked a 70-year-old man in the Baggio area and then an eighty-year-old in via Novara is accused of attempted murder and serious injury.

The first episode occurred around 16.30pm in Viale Forze Armate where the man attacked a seventy-year-old gentleman who was walking in the street, causing him several fractures and injuries to his face and upper limbs. The man was hit with extreme violence with a curtain rod that the attacker had snatched from his hand.

The immediate reports from citizens, who immediately alerted the State Police, prevented the consequences from being even more serious.

Shortly after fleeing from the site of the first attack, around 17.30pm, the man once again attacked an eighty-year-old in Via Cascina Bellaria, throwing a bicycle at him and subsequently kicking and punching him.

At that moment a local police patrol passing through the street was called by some citizens who were witnessing the scene and the officers managed to stop the man, joined shortly afterwards by the state police who were looking for him.

The man, with a history of immigration-related crimes, threats and family violence, gave no explanations for these violence, was arrested in a joint action by the State Police and local police and was taken to San Vittore.
