Milan, August 20 2021 – The agents and officers of the Territorial Problems Unit of the local police of Milan collected the "Environment and legality" award from Legambiente and Libera for the work carried out with particular effectiveness and dedication in combating the various forms of environmental crime, in reference to the complex investigations of the "Precious waste" operation, on waste trafficking, including dangerous waste, drug dealing and extortion aggravated by the mafia method, which led to 33 precautionary custody orders, as stated in the motivation.

The award, now in its 17th edition, was awarded yesterday as part of Festambiente, the national Legambiente event underway in Rispescia (Grosseto) which for five days turns the spotlight on the most varied aspects of environmental transition through the comparison between institutions , politics, representatives of the third sector, associations, civil society and businesses.

The XVII edition of the "Environment and legality" award by Legambiente and Libera focused on eleven stories with protagonists, in addition to the local police of Milan, law enforcement agencies, port authorities and the judiciary who fight every day for legality and defense of the environment.
