The new lower secondary school in Via Adriano opens its doors

Milan, September 12 2021 – With the start of the new school year, starting from tomorrow, Monday 13 September, the indications of the 'Milan Pact for School' become operational which aims to reorganize travel in the morning time slot 7-10am to guarantee the restart in full safety of school activities and beyond, taking into account the capacity limit of local public transport at 80%. 
 
As regards the timetable of lessons in secondary schools, 70% of students will enter class by 8 am, the remaining 30% after 9.30 am. 

For professional training centres, lessons will begin for the entire school population by 8.00 am, with individual institutes paying attention to adopting the necessary measures to avoid gatherings. 
Universities are invited to organize in-person lessons starting from 10 am.  
 
Changes to opening hours also for commercial establishments. Non-food retail businesses (clothing, footwear, perfumeries and herbalist's shops, housewares, opticians, etc.) will open after 10.15am: the indication applies both to local businesses and to businesses present in covered markets, shopping centers and high-street facilities. they are similar. This hourly limitation will not apply to newsagents, tobacconists, bookshops, stationery shops, pharmacies and parapharmacies. 
For hairdressers, beauty centers and all activities relating to personal services, opening will take place after 9.30 am. 
 
Public administration offices open to the public will also receive services from 9.30 am, possibly by appointment, except for appointments already scheduled. As regards the Municipality of Milan, only the funeral services, registry and civil registry offices will remain open at 8,30 am.

For private companies that provide services to the public (including those operating in the banking, financial and insurance services sector) it is recommended to open after 9.30 by making an appointment. Professional offices and consultants are called to receive clients by appointment starting from 10am.

For manufacturing production activities the opening is anticipated by 8.00 am.  
Among the measures adopted in the city, there is also the strengthening of public transport whose capacity remains limited to 80%. Sanitization of vehicles has been strengthened (for all details you can visit the ATM website).

News on the municipal school building front. The new lower secondary school in via Adriano will welcome the students tomorrow. From Monday the four classes will be able to enter earlier than the delivery times originally scheduled for December. In fact, all the works serving the school have been completed and, in addition to the classrooms, the gym, library and canteen are ready. The works on the stands to accommodate the public and the terrace are still to be completed. While the external part to the north will remain a construction site for a few more months to allow all the interventions to be completed.  

The cost of constructing the building is 9 million and 375 thousand euros. And in its creation, great attention was paid to environmental aspects. The new school will in fact have the NZEB (NearlyZero Energy Building) classification, meaning a building with very high energy performance, photovoltaic panels, connection to the district heating network and an air conditioning and ventilation system that will guarantee winter heating and summer cooling.

Free public transport was also guaranteed to all the almost 300 children from the primary school in via Massaua, closed last July, in the two new locations in via Scrosati while waiting for the new school in via Strozzi intended to host them to be built.
