Gregotti passed away. Del Corno: "With him goes one of the protagonists of design culture"

Milan, March 15 2020 - "The passing of Vittorio Gregotti leaves us saddened and orphans of a lucid and critical intelligence, which was able not only to make an important contribution to the culture of design, but also a new face to many spaces and places in our Milan: among these the Bicocca, converted from an industrial area into a citadel of culture with the new headquarters of the University and the Teatro degli Arcimboldi, and the historic headquarters of Rizzoli in via Solferino".
This was declared by the Councilor for Culture Filippo Del Corno.

His archive, with over 700 projects followed by Gregotti with the two companies he founded over the years - Studio Architetti Associati (with Ludovico Meneghetti and Giorgio Stoppino) from 1963 to 1969, and Gregotti Associati (with Augusto Cagnardi and Michele Reginaldi) from 1969 to today - was donated to the Municipality of Milan in 2013 and is currently preserved in the Sala Sforzesca of the Castle.

The archive is part of the CASVA (High Visual Arts Documentation Center) of the Municipality of Milan and includes documentation relating to projects that have made the history of modern architecture and urban planning, in Italy and around the world. Such as the headquarters of the University of Calabria in Cosenza (1972-79); the ZEN of Palermo (1969-73); the Cannaregio residential area in Venice (1981-2001); the Bas-Montreuil neighborhood, in Montreuil, France (1992-93); the competition for the development of the Spreeinsel in Berlin (1993); the theater of Aix-en-Provence (2003); the competition for the new city of Pujiangi in China (2001-2011); the master plans of various Italian cities (Arezzo, Turin, Sesto San Giovanni, Livorno, Gorizia, to name just a few); in addition, of course, to the numerous projects that during the nineties gave a new face to the former industrial area of Bicocca.
