Health. Milan elected to the vice-presidency of the Healthy Cities network

Milan, October 29 2020 – The city of Milan was elected national vice-president of the Healthy Cities network, the project promoted by the World Health Organization which promotes the role and commitment of Italian municipalities in health promotion policies at local level.

The elections for the renewal of the national board of the Italian network were held entirely online for the first time via a dedicated platform. The presidency was assigned to Ancona, while the vice-presidencies were assigned to the cities of Milan, Molfetta and Sacile. Milan also receives the mandate for healthy eating policies and international relations.

In Italy, the Healthy Cities project started in 1995 as a movement of municipalities and then became a non-profit association in 2001. Today there are over 70 municipalities that are part of the network.
