Health. World AIDS Day, 30.000 euros in contributions from the Municipality for awareness-raising actions

Milan, November 30 2022 – World AIDS Day is celebrated tomorrow, Thursday 1 December. Approaching this important occasion, the Municipality of Milan has allocated 30.000 euros for the provision of contributions to organizations that carry out projects to raise awareness among citizens on these issues. The objective is to spread knowledge about the HIV virus, to build a real culture of health, promote prevention and fight the stigma which, unfortunately, still affects sufferers today.

The resolution approved by the Council envisages identifying the beneficiaries through a public tender procedure to which Third Sector entities that have already carried out activities on these issues for no less than twelve months will be able to apply. The requests must contain a report that illustrates the project in detail and represents its economic dimension with the related budget. Each proposal will be given a maximum score of one hundred points based on the quality of the project, the organization's experience in this area, the number of operators involved and the ability to work in a network. Contributions will be paid to a maximum of 90% of the total value of the costs incurred, in ranking order until the resources are exhausted.

"Since 2018 – declares the councilor for Welfare and Health Lamberto Bertolé – Milan has joined the FastTrackCities international network with the signing of the Paris Charter. We continue year after year in the pursuit of the so-called 90-90-90 objective to ensure that at least 90% of positive people know their status, guarantee that at least 90% of them have access to therapy and bring the percentage of HIV-positive people with an undetectable viral load to 90%.

A job that is only possible if done online: as early as 2012, the Municipality of Milan promoted a citizen coordination of Third Sector bodies active in various capacities on the issues of health culture and correct lifestyles, promoting and coordinating meetings of the HIV-ITS working table aimed at promoting a culture of health and primary prevention on the topic of AIDS and sexually transmitted infections.
