Milan, October 15 2021 — "The news the awarding of the works for the new American Consulate in Milan makes us particularly happy, after a process lasting many years in which the Urban Planning Directorate of the Municipality of Milan actively collaborated to ensure that all the necessary steps were carried out, from the issuing of the necessary permits, to implementation of the reclamation, up to the protection of the historic building. What will be built in the former state property of the shooting gallery will be a building with LEED certification, i.e. with high standards of energy saving and ecological quality, in full compliance with the environmental policies that this municipal administration is pursuing to minimize the impact of new urban planning operations".

Thus the urban regeneration councilor Giancarlo Tancredi comments on the news made official by the US Department of State on the awarding of the project for the new consulate in Milan, managed by Overseas buildings operations (OBO), to the Caddell construction company LCC of Montgomery, Alabama. The architectural firm is SHoP architects of New York.

Il project includes, in addition to the new Consulate headquarters, the restoration of the historic Palazzo Liberty.
