Urban regeneration. Bovisa Goccia, a protocol to design its future

Extension of the North Campus of the Polytechnic, services and a new urban park for the redevelopment of one of the most important upcoming central areas of Milan, dedicated above all to young people 
 
Milan, September 24 2022 - One of the most important new centralities of Milan 2030 is taking shape, that of the Great Urban Function Bovisa Goccia Villapizzone, the redevelopment of which will lead to the creation of the New University Campus of the Polytechnic, the Urban Forest, the Milanese Civic Schools Center and new services, in addition to the improvement of the network of Bovisa FNM and Villapizzone stations.  
 
The guidelines for the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding have been approved by the Council which will be signed shortly between all the subjects interested in the intervention to complete the strategic regeneration plan of the Bovisa Goccia area, whose surface area extends for over 320 thousand mXNUMX: Ministry of Sustainable Infrastructure and Mobility, Ministry of University and Research, Lombardy Region, Ferrovie Nord Milano, Polytechnic of Milan, Italian Railway Network and Municipality of Milan.   
 
The area is already affected by the Program Agreement for the construction of the Gasometer Park, where the land reclamation is already almost completed, through which the existing historic buildings, elements of industrial archeology and at the same time contemporary headquarters will be redeveloped and refunctionalized of activities related to innovation and research, and now we proceed with the completion of the project design.  
 
The Municipality, in particular, in addition to the new tramway from Villapizzone to Certosa, intends to promote the establishment within its areas of the Milan Civic Schools Foundation (university training body in the field of entertainment and culture), currently located in various city ​​offices, and the creation of the so-called Urban Forest, with the arrangement of the Goccia area, approximately 160 thousand m2030, which must become a new public park equipped and usable for all citizens by 15. These are purposes for which the Municipality has already requested and recently obtained important state resources: 37 million euros allocated to the new park and almost XNUMX million for the creation of the Civic Schools Foundation.  
 
New public functions linked to the North Campus are also planned in extension to the current one, such as student residences, start-ups and business incubators, settlements of companies that will work in synergy with the Polytechnic. Finally, the Bovisa FNM and Villapizzone stations will be redeveloped, whose interconnections will also be improved.
