Reinventing cities 3. Expressions of interest for the six sites put up for tender have been received

Maran: "We hope that the projects respond to the need for new social housing homes with controlled rents"

Milan 18 October 2022 – The first phase of Reinventing cities 3 has ended, the international call promoted by the Municipality of Milan together with the C40 city network, to regenerate six abandoned sites, respecting the principles of sustainability and resilience.

A total of nine expressions of interest were received from private operators, at least one for each of the six areas designated for this edition:

  • via Pitagora (Town Hall 2), surface area of ​​4.800 m2 for a redevelopment of the space with ERS (Social Residential Housing) at affordable prices, complementary functions and active ground floors;
  • Piazza Martesana (Town Hall 2), surface area of ​​11.700 m2 for which a redevelopment is envisaged through the inclusion of functional and social mixes with ERS rented at affordable prices;
  • Zama-Salomone (Municipality 4), project in collaboration with Aler Milano which has made the surface right of an area of ​​16.000 m available for tender2 in which ERS accommodation will be built for rent and sale at controlled prices and for which the municipality of Milan provides rewards for the use of offsite technologies;
  • Abbiategrasso (Municipality 5), area of ​​7.940 m2, co-owned by the Municipality of Milan and MM SpA, in which the construction of ERS for rent at affordable prices is envisaged, supported by shares of ERP;
  • Bovisasca (Municipality 8), an area of ​​1.880 which will be connected to the adjacent transformation of the MoLeCoLa project and will also in this case include the construction of rented ERS;
  • Certosa 186 (Municipality 8), area of ​​4.200 m2 where in addition to the inclusion of functional and social mixes with ERS quotas, depaving is also envisaged, in order to enhance accessibility to the surrounding road axes.

The proposals will be examined and evaluated by a Commission, to then proceed to the second phase which involves the selection of the finalists with the definitive presentation of the projects and the financial offer.

"In a moment of great uncertainty and crisis – declares the housing councilor Pierfrancesco Maran – we can be satisfied to have received offers for all the sites. We hope that the projects presented respond to the need to offer new homes in social housing with controlled rents ".
