Milan, November 15 2020 - The construction works of a new underground car park in via Zarotto, Lazzaretto area, have been completed in recent days, which have led to a radical redevelopment of the surface area.

The underground car park created by the Cooperativa Silos Buenos Aires arl, based on an architectural design by Matteo Vercelloni and a structural one by Beverina Associati, saw the creation of 119 parking spaces for residents divided into three underground floors and the installation of a charging system for cars electrical. There are also 29 autonomously installed parking spaces, with their own internal wall box, with an availability of 150 kW in total.

The space freed up by the cars on the surface allowed the redevelopment of the area, with the creation of elevated flowerbeds with trees, the installation of benches and two bicycle racks. Two large 'narrative' steel plaques dedicated to two protagonists of Italian architectural culture, the engineer Luigi Lorenzo Secchi and the architect Luigi Moretti, respectively designers of the Cozzi swimming pool and of the building now occupied by the Ibis Hotel, former Casa Albergo, part of a master plan for the post-war city of Milan.

“The urban regeneration of Via Zarotto is part of the valorisation of the Lazzaretto neighbourhood, increasingly characterized by gentle mobility with pedestrian areas – declare the councilors Marco Granelli (Mobility) and Pierfrancesco Maran (Urban Planning and Greenery) -. If on the one hand the residents of the area have new parking spaces available, on the other hand a new social space has been created with benches and greenery available to all".
