Neighborhoods. An evening meeting to discover new job opportunities, do business and propose ideas and services useful for helping Lorenteggio grow

Tajani: "With the Neighborhood School an opportunity to invest in oneself, one's skills and the community"

Milan, January 15 2020 – From discovering new training and work opportunities for residents to how to develop a useful and sustainable idea to improve services and the quality of life in the area, up to how to obtain financial support for those who want to do business in the neighborhood.

This is the objective of the meeting which will take place on Thursday 16 January at the Alfredo Chiesa community theater in via San Cristoforo, from 18pm to 20pm. An evening open to all and entirely dedicated to those who have an idea or a social enterprise project to be implemented in Lorenteggio or in other non-central areas of the city.

To illustrate the various opportunities offered by the Administration thanks to the "La Scuola dei neighorhood" project, an initiative of the Pon Metro program, and the plan of interventions worth over 2 million euros promoted by the Municipality and aimed at the inhabitants of the Lorenteggio area, the councilor at Labor Policies and Productive Activities Cristina Tajani with Gianpiero Kesten of Radio Popolare.

“A meeting – explains Tajani – to illustrate an important and unprecedented package of opportunities offered by the Administration to the residents of the neighbourhood, helping them both in the search for employment with an accompanying allowance and focusing on training and the development of skills, and through the support for the creation of new business projects useful for contributing to the active life of the community, because by improving the neighborhood in which you live you improve the city. We are convinced – concludes Tajani – that this path, which began successfully in a reality like Corvetto thanks to the action carried out by the 'School of Neighborhoods', can actively contribute to the social and economic relaunch of the Lorenteggio neighbourhood, encouraging the birth of new business ideas useful for improving the quality of life and services in the area".

During the evening, the residents present will be able to listen to the stories of those who have already implemented their business or service projects by making use of the opportunity offered by La Scuola dei Neighborhoods, already active in the Corvetto neighborhood and in other areas of the city and which has allowed them to give life to 20 new realities. From Monday 27 January it will be possible to submit applications to participate in the call to identify 20 new ideas to be implemented in the Giambellino, Lorenteggio, Selinunte and San Siro-Gallaratese districts.

The methods of participation in the "Lorenteggio Project: living, working and doing business in the neighbourhood" tender will also be illustrated, which in the area can count on an allocation of 1 million euros deriving from POR FSE 2014-2020 funding as part of the program between the Lombardy Region, the Municipality of Milan and ALER.

Specifically, 600 thousand euros intended for the implementation of active employment policies: from professional orientation moments to training and support for job searching, all carried out by AFOL Metropolitana at its centres. Another 400 thousand euros are intended, however, for the economic support of individuals over the age of 18 and residing in the streets of Lorenteggio, Inganni, Giambellino and Odazio, who decide to participate in the cycle of orientation activities and paid in the form of an allowance.

A further possibility for growth and development of the neighborhood is available to the inhabitants, represented by 1,2 million funding from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) 2014÷2020 for the creation of both profit and non-profit businesses - capable of having a positive social impact through the creation of jobs, the socio-economic revitalization of the area and the provision of new services to respond to the social needs of the Lorenteggio community. The call for tenders will open in the coming months and will be aimed at both aspiring entrepreneurs and existing businesses with non-repayable contributions up to a maximum of 100.000 euros.
